SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Vertical Ink Agency Email Submission Guidelines

The Vertical Ink Agency represents a wide variety of fiction and nonfiction for general audiences.  For nonfiction, we focus particularly on the genres of Mind/Body/Spirit, Health & Wellness, Business & Leadership, Inspiration & Motivation, Current Events & Politics, Popular Science & Psychology, Pop Culture, Memoir, Humor, History, and Sports, and we are willing to consider proposals in other nonfiction genres as well.  We are more selective when it comes to the fiction we take on, but it’s fair to say we love fiction that successfully rides the line between “literary” and “literate” while still maintaining something of a commercial sensibility.

We are currently only accepting submissions via email at VIAQuery [at] Gmail [dot] com. However, we will not accept any attachments WHATSOEVER. In the interest of the security of our computer systems, all emails with attachments will be deleted automatically without being read. Also, due to the overwhelming number of electronic submissions we receive, we can unfortunately no longer respond to every query personally, so please understand that we will only reply directly if we are interested in your project.

For nonfiction queries, please send a concise email query and a brief overview or chapter outline for your project. In your query, please include your contact information, any relevant background information on yourself or your project, and a paragraph of description of your project. Also, please include any marketing and promotion information relevant to you and/or your project.  All of this material must be included in the body of your email.

For fiction queries, please send a concise email query and a synopsis or chapter outline for your project. In your email, please include your contact information, any relevant background information on yourself or your project, and a paragraph of description of your project.  All of this material must be included in the body of your email.

In 2020, Vertical Ink added Reeves Hamilton, a twenty-plus year veteran of the publishing industry, to specialize in science fiction, broadly defined as hard Sci-Fi and space opera, but also as Sci-Fi-adjacent and genre-bending upmarket commercial fiction. He is not seeking adult fantasy or young adult fiction.

Thank you for your consideration - we appreciate the privilege of considering your work.
